The Kids Equipment Network Jake had a shower/commode seat. He outgrew it. He has Osteogenesis Imperfecta and when his legs are broken or casted, it is impossible for him to sit on a regular toilet. When our Dr. prescribed a new Flamingo seat (he needed the recline feature for when in a spika cast) we were told that a commode/shower chair was a 'convenience item'. Without TKEN it is very possible that our son would have to try to use a bedpan or end up using a diaper when he is in a body cast. THANK YOU so much, there is no way you can understand what you do when you give these kids a piece of equipment. You don't just give them a material item. You give them independence and dignity. I cannot describe in words how thankful I am to your foundation for providing my little girl with the equipment she needed. My daughter Jaiden, has a power chair and we needed a back up manual chair for when the power chair has issues. We also saw a standing danny while we were at the wheelchair clinic. We have been looking for a standing danny since Jaiden was 4 years old (she is 7 now). She outgrew her last borrowed standing danny. We are so grateful to have found another one thanks to your foundation.
Finally, we borrowed a stroller that folds up so that Jaiden can go on trips even when we don’t have the van. We don’t always have access to a van with a lift or ramp so it’s nice to have a stroller now when we need to go somewhere in a car or on a trip that isn’t wheelchair friendly.
Again, we cannot thank you enough. We met so many amazing and helpful people on January 14, 2012. Our hearts are still smiling just knowing your foundation exists to help others in our situation.
Thank you.
Nicholas, or Nicky, as he is known, is a ten year old boy who requires help for all of his daily activities. His mother has been providng this assistance for her son since his birth and these two have a very special bond. Nicky is not able to walk and he uses a wheelchair to get around. As Nicky continues to grow, so does his equipment needs, including his wheelchair. His mother was having more and more difficulty in trying to transport Nicky's wheelchair. TKEN was able to provide Nicky with an adaptive stroller that fit him just right. He is now able again to go everywhere everyday.
Kelsey’s Story: We had applied to our insurance company and were denied twice for a manual chair. We had nothing else to put Kelsey in case of an emergency or if her electric chair broke down. Also, Kelsey is 17 years old and would like some independence going places without me. With a manual chair she will be able to go to friends and families homes that she has never seen because her electric chair would not fit. Also because the chair folds her friends and family could take her places without me. This generous gift will open a new world for Kelsey and it is nice to know that the world will know her more, also. For this we are so grateful, Her Parents.
. . And thanking you for your generosity |
